Mesut Ozil has revealed his admiration for Arsenal team-mate Mathieu Flamini, revealing that he enjoys a great relationship with the French midfielder.

Flamini found himself in the headlines last month as his two goals against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane helped Arsenal book their place in the fourth round of the League Cup.

The midfielder has since been sidelined with a hamstring injury, but Ozil says that he has developed a strong understanding with his team-mate since his arrival at Emirates Stadium.

Ozil told Arsenal Player: “I have a really good understanding with Mathieu.

“He’s a guy who always gives 100 per cent on the pitch but when he’s off the pitch, he’s a player who makes a lot of jokes and gets on well with a lot of his team-mates.

“He’s just a great guy with whom I have a lot of fun. As I said, we’re just pleased to have him in this team.”

Ozil played a pivotal role in helping Arsene Wenger’s men seal victory over Manchester United and move up to second place in the Premier League table.

The 26-year-old scored one and set up one as the Gunners ran riot in a blistering opening 20 minutes at Emirates Stadium.

Ozil joined Arsenal in a club-record transfer deal from Real Madrid back in the summer of 2013.
