Morgan Schneiderlin issues Man United with Middlesbrough warning
Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin isn't taking Middlesbrough lightly
Morgan Schneiderlin has warned Manchester United that Middlesbrough will pose a serious threat in the League Cup at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils welcome Boro to the Theatre of Dreams as the 20-time English champions look to book their place in Capital One Cup quarter-finals.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has led the Championship side to fourth place in the table after collecting 24 points from 13 second-tier games.
And Schneiderlin, who moved to United in a £25m deal from Southampton in the summer transfer window, is expecting a tough examination from Boro.
“The cup is something that allows every player to get an opportunity,” Schneiderlin told MUTV. “I know the manager likes to change some players and it’s very important because we are a group and everyone plays a part and does their best. We want to win this cup.
“Man United should try to win everything and that’s what we’re aiming to do. You saw when we played Ipswich that we were very serious about the competition and we want to carry that on against Middlesbrough, who are a good team. They were close to being back in the Premier League last season so it will be a hard game and we have prepared as seriously as possible.”
Schneiderlin has already become a key part of United’s first-team following his big-money move from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
The Frenchman has scored one goal in nine Premier League games for the 20-time English champions.
United are in fourth place in the table after a goalless draw with Manchester City at Sunday, although the Red Devils are just two points behind the leaders.
