New Man United signing fires warning at Arsenal
Morgan Schneiderlin is in a confident mood heading into Manchester United's clash with Arsenal
Morgan Schneiderlin has warned Arsenal that Manchester United intend to make a “statement” about their Premier League title credentials when they take on the Gunners at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Red Devils head to north London one point clear at the top of the Premier League table and looking for a victory to keep their place at the top of the pile ahead of the forthcoming international break.
United were 2-1 winners under Louis van Gaal at Emirates Stadium last season, and Schneiderlin, who joined the Red Devils from Southampton this summer, is confident that his new side can claim three points from the game.
Schneiderlin told MUTV: “I am looking forward to the game, very much so, because the Emirates is a great stadium and they are a good team.
“I think Arsenal will be there competing for the title until the end and it is up to us to make a statement on Sunday.
“Last year they had a good result against United in the FA Cup and we had a good result against them in the league, so we know we can win this game and it is going to be a battle.
“We want to make a statement and show everyone that we deserve to be in first place.”
United head into the game on the back of their 2-1 comeback win over Wolfsburg in the Champions League, while Arsenal are looking to respond after their surprise 3-2 defeat by Olympiacos on Tuesday night.
The Gunners beat Leicester 5-2 last weekend, while United were 3-0 winners over Sunderland.
