Olivier Giroud fires warning at Man United ahead of Arsenal showdown
Olivier Giroud says Arsenal will be confident of sealing victory against Manchester United
Olivier Giroud has warned Manchester United that Arsenal will be more focused than ever when the two sides do battle at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils head to north London one point clear at the top of the Premier League table and looking for a victory to keep top spot heading into the forthcoming international break.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking to return to winning ways after they slumped to a surprise 3-2 loss by Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
However, Giroud is confident that Arsene Wenger’s men have what it takes to beat the top-flight leaders and move level on points with Louis van Gaal’s side.
Giroud told Arsenal Player: “It’s a big game. It’s always nice to play a massive game to bounce back. The focus will be even more present than usual.
“We need to learn from our mistakes [against Olympiacos]. When we came back to 2-2 I thought we could have the time to win the game. We still had 15 minutes to score the third goal but we forgot the basics of keeping a good defensive shape.
“We conceded the third goal on a break so it was a disappointing result but it’s like that. It’s part of the past now and we need to focus on bouncing back against Manchester United. It’s a big game.”
United secured a 3-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford last weekend, while Arsenal beat Leicester City 5-2 at the King Power Stadium.
The Red Devils came from a goal down to beat Wolfsburg in the Champions League at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
