Ander Herrera will have taken real confidence from his performance in Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Everton, according to Pat Nevin.

The Spanish midfielder broke the deadlock with a fine header before Morgan Schneiderlin and captain Wayne Rooney sealed three points.

He’ll get real confidence from that. It is a big tick for him

Herrera has scored two goals and has made one assist despite making just three starts in the Premier League this term.

While Nevin believes Herrera still has some progress to make with his development in the United side, the former Chelsea and Everton midfielder believes the signs are positive.

“There were more impressive parts to his game this week. I think it was how he was finding space that was most impressive for me,” Nevin told Newstalk’s Off The Ball.

“Obviously, his goal was a good header. He played in the No10 position which Mata and Rooney were probably looking jealously towards him.

“You’re just waiting for something to click. He’ll get real confidence from that. It is a big tick for him.”

Herrera has scored two goals and made one assist in seven games in all competitions for the Red Devils this season.

The uncapped Spanish midfielder moved to United in a reported £29m deal from La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao in 2014.
