Paul Merson: Why Mesut Ozil will help Arsenal beat Swansea
Paul Merson says movement of Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will be too much for Swansea
Paul Merson believes the movement of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will prove decisive as Arsenal make the trip to Swansea City on Saturday.
The Gunners are looking to bounce back from a surprise League Cup exit mid-week after a resounding 3-0 defeat by League One side Sheffield Wednesday.
Arsenal have won their last four games in the Premier League following victories over Leicester City, Manchester United, Watford and Everton.
Speaking to Sky Sports, former Arsenal playmaker Merson backed Arsene Wenger’s men to secure a fifth successive win despite a tricky assignment in Wales.
Merson said: “One things for sure Arsenal won’t field the same side that played at Sheffield Wednesday! Trips to the Liberty Stadium are hard for Arsenal, but Swansea aren’t setting things alight and I don’t know how they’re going to live with the movement of Sanchez and Ozil.
“In the league, Arsenal are flying and they’ll continue that form on Saturday.”
Ozil has scored two goals and has made eight assists in 12 games in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s men this term.
The Germany playmaker moved to Arsenal in a club-record £42.5m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in 2013.
Arsenal are level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City at the top of the table.
