Petr Cech says Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a winner like his Chelsea rival Jose Mourinho.

The Gunners hoisted themselves into second place in the Premier League table after a 3-0 victory over bitter rivals Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Czech Republic international moved to Arsenal in an £11m deal from defending Premier League champions Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Cech worked under Mourinho during the Portuguese’s two spells in charge of the west London side, and the Arsenal goalkeeper explained what qualities Mourinho and Wenger have in common.

“The similarity is that everybody wants to win,” Cech told talkSPORT.

“If you ask Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger if they want to win everything: yes they do. You can see they don’t like losing games, and I think this is something you need to have in you if you want to be successful.”

Arsenal are two points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after their emphatic win against Louis van Gaal’s United side.

The Gunners make the trip to newly-promoted Watford in their next Premier League outing at Vicarage Road on 17 October.
