Jordon Ibe takes to Instagram after Brendan Rodgers was sacked

Jordon Ibe has paid tribute to sacked Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Northern Irishman was dismissed with immediate effect after his side were held to a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park earlier on Sunday afternoon.

The 18-time English champions are in 10th place and already eight points behind leaders Manchester City after winning just three of their opening eight Premier League games.

Ibe, who established himself as a first-team regular under Rodgers, in a sign of respect, posted a photo of Rodgers and the England Under-21 international embracing on Instagram.

Rodgers was appointed as Kenny Dalglish’s successor at the Merseyside club in May 2012.

Liverpool have finished outside the top four in two of the Northern Irishman’s three full seasons in charge.

The former Swansea City boss did guide Liverpool to runners-up spot in the Premier League in 2014, which was the Reds’s joint-best finish in the Premier League era.
