Christian Benteke says Liverpool deserved more than a point after a 1-1 draw with 10-man Southampton at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Substitute Benteke looked to have powered the home side to three points after a thunderous header in the 77th minute edged Liverpool ahead.

However, Sadio Mane capitalised on confusion in the Reds’s defence to salvage a point for the Saints before the Senegal forward was sent off in added time.

And Liverpool striker Benteke took to Instagram after the stalemate to give his thoughts on the Merseyside outfit’s third successive draw under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

Benteke wrote on the photo-sharing app: “We deserved more today! We’ll never walk alone”

Benteke has scored three goals in six Premier League games for Liverpool since his £32.5m move from Aston Villa under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers in the summer.

The Belgium international is the second most-expensive player in Liverpool’s history behind West Ham United striker Andy Carroll.
