Wayne Rooney has taken to social media to reveal his delight after moving up to second place in the all-time Premier League goal-scoring chart this weekend.

The Manchester United captain netted his side’s third goal as Louis van Gaal’s men ran out 3-0 winners over Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

The striker moved Rooney behind Alan Shearer as the second-most prolific scorer in Premier League history with 187 goals to his name.

And the Red Devils skipper used his personal Instagram account to express his delight at the feat on Sunday afternoon.

Rooney uploaded the photo above onto the app and wrote: “Delighted to be second in the all time Premier League goal scoring chart, the league that i’ve watched and loved since I was a boy. Next up is CSKA Moscow in the Champions League….”

The Red Devils next face CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday before Sunday’s clash with Manchester City.
