Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet meets Belgian Reds who travelled over to watch 1-1 draw with Southampton
Simon Mignolet met Liverpool’s Belgian supporters on Sunday after a 1-1 draw with Southampton at Anfield on Sunday evening.
Liverpool are becoming something of a beacon for Belgians in the Premier League with Mignolet, Divock Origi and Christian Benteke all part of Marc Wilmots’s Red Devils squad.
The travelling supporters were treated to a spectacular opening goal from Belgian Benteke after the £32.5m signing placed a thunderous header past Maarten Sketelenberg.
Mignolet was unable to keep a clean sheet in Sunday’s clash on Merseyside after Sadio Mane equalised with three minutes remaining before the Saints striker was sent off for a second bookable offence.
However, the Liverpool number one was still all smiles as he posed for a snap with fans after the stalemate.
Mignolet wrote on his Instagram page: “Just had dinner with these Belgian fans who made the trip on a coach to come and support us today! #YNWA”
The 27-year-old shot stopper has kept four clean sheets in 10 Premier League games this season.
The Reds make the trip to Chelsea in their next top-flight fixture at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
