Reds legend Steven Gerrard is excited by the prospect of new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Steven Gerrard says the Reds are set for some exciting times under new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The former England captain is no longer at the Merseyside outfit after he moved to Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool appointed the German as Brendan Rodgers’s successor on Thursday evening after the 48-year-old agreed a three-year deal with the 18-time English champions.

And Gerrard, who worked under Roy Evans, Gerard Houllier, Rafael Benitez, Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish and Rodgers during his Reds career, issued his backing for the new manager.

Gerrard wrote on the photo-sharing app: “Exciting time to be a red .. Best wishes Mr Klopp . YNWA”

The former Liverpool captain won the Champions League, three FA Cup crowns, three League Cups and the Uefa Cup during a decorated career at the five-time European champions.
