Christian Benteke appeared to be in good spirits as the Liverpool striker trained ahead of their game against Chelsea on Saturday.

The Belgium international missed Jurgen Klopp’s first victory as Liverpool manager after the striker picked up a knee injury in first-team training.

The Reds eased to a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth in the League Cup fourth round courtesy of Nathaniel Clyne’s first-half winner at Anfield.

However, Klopp confirmed at his pre-match media conference that Benteke would be available to line up against Jose Mourinho’s side on Saturday afternoon.

The £32.5m summer signing scored in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Southampton in the Premier League last weekend as Sadio Mane denied the Reds victory.

Benteke moved to Liverpool in the club’s second most-expensive deal from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
