Jurgen Klopp has been officially confirmed as the new Liverpool manager
Jurgen Klopp has been confirmed as Liverpool’s new manager by the Merseyside club.
The German put pen to paper on what is believed to be a three-year contract with the Reds on Thursday evening and will be officially unveiled to the media at a news conference at Anfield at 10:00 BST on Friday morning.
Liverpool confirmed the appointment via a statement on their official website, just four days after the sacking of Brendan Rodgers on Sunday.
The Liverpool statement read: “Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce Jürgen Klopp has been appointed as the club’s new manager.
“The German coach has signed a deal to take the helm at the Reds and will be presented at a press conference at Anfield on Friday morning.”
The 48-year-old former Borussia Dortmund boss has been the heavy favourite to take over at the Merseyside club following Rodgers’ dismissal at the weekend.
Klopp is set to take charge this weekend and his first test will be preparing his new team for a tricky trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday 17 October.
The German is set to arrive in Liverpool on Thursday to sign his contract with the Reds and get used to his new surroundings.
