Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez looked to impress Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as the Gunners pair trained with their team-mates ahead of their trip to Swansea City on Saturday.

The Gunners boss rested his two big-name players for their humiliating 3-0 defeat by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup fourth round on Tuesday night.

Ozil has been in brilliant form in recent weeks after racking up five assists and scoring two goals in his last six games for the Gunners in all competitions.

While Sanchez was unable to find the net in a 2-1 win against Everton last weekend, the Chile international has scored seven times in his last six games in the Premier League and Champions League.

Arsenal are level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City after last weekend’s close-fought win against Roberto Martinez’s Everton side.
