Liverpool won’t be able to attract “wow players” to Anfield despite the appointment of Jurgen Klopp, according to Robbie Savage.

The 48-year-old has been named the new Liverpool manager amid much fanfare after he signed a three-year deal with the Merseyside outfit on Thursday evening.

I don’t think they’ve got a team. Can they attract wow players? I don’t think they can

The Reds have failed to replace Luis Suarez since the Uruguayan moved to Barcelona in a £75m deal in 2013, although Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers did spent a combined £61.5m on Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino.

However, former Leicester City and Wales midfielder Savage isn’t impressed with the current Liverpool squad, adding that Klopp will struggle to sign world-class players.

“Liverpool seem to sell their best players. I can’t remember the last wow player Liverpool signed,” Savage told BT Sport.

“Jurgen Klopp came across really good and Liverpool fans will be excited. There will be fun times ahead.

Rodgers signed James Milner, Danny Ings and Adam Bogdan on free transfers in the summer window.

The Northern Irishman snapped up Benteke and Firmino in big-money deals.
