Stan Collymore says Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is “very excited” to work with new manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 48-year-old German head coach was presented to the British media on Friday morning after Klopp penned a three-year contract with the 18-time English champions.

Sturridge was signed by Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers in a £12m deal from Chelsea in January 2013, and the striker has scored 37 times in 57 Premier League games.

And former Liverpool striker Collymore lifted the context of a conversation that he had with Sturridge on a train on Friday afternoon following Klopp’s appointment.

Sturridge has scored two goals in two Premier League games for the Merseyside outfit this term after he netted a brilliant brace in a 3-2 win against Aston Villa last month.
