Stan Collymore: Why Liverpool must appoint Jurgen Klopp

The former Liverpool striker explains why Jurgen Klopp is the man for the Anfield outfit

Stan Collymore says Jurgen Klopp is the right man to lift Liverpool out of their slump.

The Reds sacked Brendan Rodgers on Sunday afternoon after a 1-1 draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Klopp is the heavy favourite to take over at Anfield after having been linked with the Liverpool role over the past six months.

Carlo Ancelotti is another touted candidate for the Merseyside outfit, whilst Ajax boss Frank de Boer is thought to be a potential option.

However, former Liverpool striker Collymore believes Klopp has all the necessary attributes to be a success at the five-time European champions.

Collymore also tipped Klopp to bring Jamie Carragher or Steven Gerrard into his potential coaching staff should the charismatic German get the Anfield job.

Liverpool are in 10th place in the Premier League table but only three points behind fourth-placed Crystal Palace following their stalemate with Everton.
