Thibaut Courtois is hoping to be back in action for Chelsea in December as the goalkeeper continues his rehabilitation following knee surgery.

The 23-year-old has been out of action since September after going under the knife to correct knee ligament damage.

Courtois has been posting pictures of his return to full fitness on his personal Instagram account in recent weeks.

And the shot-stopper now says that he is hoping to be back in action before the end of the year.

Courtois is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard: “In terms of my knee, it is good. I am doing my rehabilitation and it is progressing fine.

“I will be (now) starting the bulk of the work with my physio to come back as soon as possible.

“Of course I still have to be careful not to go too quickly, but all being well, I should be back in December.”

Chelsea have struggled in Courtois’ absence, with Jose Mourinho’s men losing half of their eight Premier League games to leave them 10 points behind leaders Manchester City.

The Blues suffered a 3-1 loss to Southampton in their most recent outing and will look to return to winning ways when they host Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon in west London.
