Thierry Henry admits that he has been thoroughly impressed by Anthony Martial’s start to life at Manchester United.

The 19-year-old has hit the ground running in the Premier League since his transfer to Old Trafford from Monaco on deadline day last month.

United’s move to sign the teenager for a big-money fee raised eyebrows, but the striker has already established himself as a regular in Louis van Gaal’s first team.

Martial announced himself to the Old Trafford faithful by coming off the bench to score a stunning third goal in the 3-1 win over Liverpool at the start of the season.

The teenager has featured in six Premier League games for the Red Devils and has scored three goals and made one assist.

And former Arsenal striker Henry believes that the youngster deserves plenty of credit for the way he has adapted to life in Manchester.

Henry told Sky Sports: “He’s answered the call. Not only does he score goals, but he has also shown what else he can do.

“Against Man City, he didn’t score, but he was trying to create. He was the only one out there trying to create, he was trying to beat people, trying to cross, trying to go by the byline, cut inside and shoot.

“He also looked like he had an idea of what was happening around him and what he wanted to do on top of scoring goals, which we all know he can do now.”

Martial will be expecting to feature when United travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
