Thierry Henry discusses Jack Wilshere’s Arsenal future
Thierry Henry believes that Jack Wilshere has the potential to be Arsenal captain for a "very long time"
Thierry Henry believes that Jack Wilshere has the potential to be Arsenal captain for a “very long time” as long as the midfielder can stay injury free.
The England international has suffered yet another setback in his Gunners career this season after requiring surgery to correct a hairline fracture in his leg which has prevented him from featuring this term.
Wilshere is not expected to be back available for selection for Arsenal until January at the earliest.
Former Arsenal striker Henry is fully convinced by Wilshere’s potential but admits that he wants to see the midfielder enjoy a sustained run in the north London side’s first team in the coming seasons.
Henry told Sky Sports: “I actually feel sorry for Jack. He loves Arsenal. He’s an Arsenal fan.
“He’s never had a whole season to really see what he can do. We all know he has great potential.
“Arsenal have a great guy there that could be Arsenal captain for a very long time. Can he be injury free? That’s the only thing.”
Arsenal, who are currently second in the Premier League table, travel to Swansea City in their next top flight game on Saturday.
The Gunners beat Everton 2-1 in their most recent Premier League outing last Saturday.
