Thierry Henry: Why this Man United legend is the Premier League’s best ever
Thierry Henry says Paul Scholes is the best player to feature in the Premier League
Thierry Henry believes that Paul Scholes is the Premier League’s best ever player and claims that the former Manchester United midfielder never received the credit he deserved.
Scholes scored more than 150 goals in over 700 games for United between 1993 and 2013 to earn a reputation as one of the English top flight’s greatest ever talents.
Former Arsenal striker Henry is considered by many to be a contender for one of the best players to have ever featured in the top flight.
However, the ex-France international says that Scholes is his pick for the best player to have featured in the Premier League.
Asked who his pick is, Henry said on Sky Sports News: “I would have to go Paul Scholes.
“I don’t think people have given him the credit he deserves. (He’s) one of the best, if not the best, I’ve played against, he could do anything. Unfortunately for him, when he was playing for the national team, for England, sometimes people didn’t see it like that.
“If I had a Paul Scholes in my team, everything would be around him. At Manchester United, they saw it like that, but I think Paul Scholes is one of the best I’ve played against in this league, and seen anywhere.”
Scholes has taken up a punditry role with BT Sport since hanging up his playing boots at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.
United return to Premier League action when they travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
