Tottenham star Harry Kane: Jurgen Klopp will give Liverpool ‘little extra’
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says Jurgen Klopp will have given Liverpool a boost
Harry Kane believes Jurgen Klopp will give Liverpool five per cent extra against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds appointed the 48-year-old German head coach as their new manager after Brendan Rodgers was sacked following a 1-1 draw with Everton earlier this month.
“Obviously Liverpool, with a new manager, will be up for it, but we know what we have to do
Klopp, who signed a three-year contract with the Anfield outfit, will take charge of the 18-time English champions for the first time at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.
Tottenham striker Kane, who has scored one goal in eight Premier League games this season, warned Spurs that Klopp will have boosted the Reds ahead of the top-six clash.
“In the first couple of games after a managerial appointment everybody tries to impress so they will probably have that little 5% extra than usual, we expect that,” Kane is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
“The Liverpool players at England could not wait to get back to start working under him, but we have out-run every team we have played so far this season and that’s a sign we’re playing the manager’s tactics right and are fit enough to do it, and that’s what we have to do again on Saturday.
“Obviously Liverpool, with a new manager, will be up for it, but we know what we have to do.”
The England forward netted 31 goals in 51 games in all competitions under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance in his breakthrough season at the north London club.
However, 22-year-old Kane has only scored one goal in the Premier League this season, netting in a 4-1 victory over Manchester City at White Hart Lane last month.
