Tottenham transfers: Agent discusses Laurent Depoitre reports
Laurent Depoitre's agent says no club has yet made an official approach to sign the Gent striker
Tottenham Hotspur have not yet held official talks with Laurent Depoitre about a possible move to the north London club for the striker, his agent has revealed.
Spurs have been heavily linked with a big-money swoop for the Gent forward in recent days as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster his attacking options at White Hart Lane.
Depoitre has caught the eye by scoring six goals in 12 appearances for Gent so far this season.
And although the forward’s agent says he is aware of the speculation linking his client with a move away from Gent, he insists that no official talks have yet taken place.
Agent Rene Vijt told ESPN: “As far as I know there have been no negotiations [with Tottenham], but there is a lot of interest in him.
“He is still under contract with Gent, and they want to remain champions so they will not want to lose him.
“Negotiations will be tough, but that matter depends on Gent and any agreement with any interested club.
“However, I believe Laurent would be a fantastic player in the Premier League.
“He is happy in Gent, but try to find me a player that does not want to play in the Premier League.”
Tottenham return to Premier League action with a testing home clash against Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Saturday lunchtime.
Spurs are currently eighth in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Manchester City after eight games.
