Arsenal moved to the top of the Premier League table thanks to a battling 2-1 win over Everton at Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

Arsenal took the lead in the 36th minute when Olivier Giroud nodded in Mesut Ozil’s fine cross – and Laurent Koscielny made it 2-0 when he headed home in the 38th minute.

Everton pulled one back when Gabriel Paulista deflected Ross Barkley’s effort past Petr Cech before half-time but Arsenal held on for the victory.

The win placed the Gunners one point clear at the top of the table ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Arsenal’s victory inevitably prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite updates.
