Wenger: Arsenal star was so upset in dressing room during Everton win

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Gabriel Paulista was “so upset” about deflecting Ross Barkley’s shot past Petr Cech during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday.
The Brazilian defender started the game against the Toffees alongside Laurent Koscielny in the heart of Arsenal’s defence.
Arsenal took a 2-0 lead at Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Koscielny, but the Merseyside outfit pulled one back when Gabriel inadvertently deflected Barkley’s speculative effort past a stranded Cech.
Gabriel has been a regular fixture in Arsenal’s first team this season and Wenger revealed that the centre-half was devastated to have played a part in the Everton goal.
Wenger told his post-match news conference at the weekend: “Gabriel has shown that he is a fighter.
“At half-time he was so upset at the deflection he got, but in the second half he came out again with the same spirit, it is a fantastic combative aspect.
“He is not a talking leader, he is a fighting leader, and I think he is a typical centre-back for the Premier League.”
Arsenal take on Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round of the League Cup on Tuesday night before turning their attentions back to the Premier League and Saturday’s trip to Swansea City.
The Gunners are currently second in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
