Wenger delivers injury updates on key Arsenal duo ahead of Swansea trip
Arsene Wenger delivers the latest Arsenal team news ahead of Saturday's Premier League trip to Swansea City
Arsene Wenger has revealed that both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott will be out of action until after the forthcoming international break after the Arsenal duo suffered injuries during the League Cup defeat by Sheffield Wednesday this week.
Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered a hamstring injury just minutes into the loss at Hillsborough.
Walcott was his replacement but the England international sustained a calf problem soon after and also had to be replaced.
Both players have been assessed by the Gunners, and speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training base on Friday morning, Wenger confirmed that he was expecting Oxlade-Chamberlain to be back in action before Walcott.
Wenger said: “Oxlade-Chamberlain will be back before Walcott. Both will be out until after the internationals.
“The gut feeling is one will be 20 days out, the other will be longer.”
He continued: “We will find solutions and I have to find the right one. Let’s play tomorrow. I trust my medical and coaching staff to do well. We are very well organised on that front.”
Arsenal travel to Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as they look to continue their fine form in the top flight.
The Gunners, who beat Everton 2-1 last weekend, are currently second in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
