Arsene Wenger has played down injury fears surrounding Gabriel Paulista by revealing that the defender should be fit for Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The centre-half was left out of the squad as the north London side secured an impressive 3-0 win at Watford on Saturday evening to move back up to second place in the Premier League table.

However, Wenger has suggested that the Brazilian will be fit and ready to feature when Arsenal look to revive their Champions League group stage campaign against Pep Guardiola’s men at Emirates Stadium.

Speaking at his post-match news conference after Arsenal’s win at Watford, Wenger said: “He should be available for Tuesday. He had a good training session before we left at our training ground and he looks alright.”

Wenger also revealed that Theo Walcott, who was substituted in the second half of Saturday’s win, had not sustained an injury.

Asked about the England international, Wenger replied: “He had no problem.”
