Yohan Cabaye insists that Anthony Martial’s flying start to life at Manchester United has not come as a surprise to him.

The 19-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers since his arrival at Old Trafford from Monaco in a big-money deal on transfer deadline day last month.

Martial has already notched up four goals for the Red Devils and has firmly established himself as a regular in Louis van Gaal’s starting line-up.

And France midfielder Cabaye has praised the impact Martial has had since his arrival at Old Trafford.

Cabaye is quoted as saying by Goal: “They speak about him [Martial in England]. I am not surprised about how quickly he fits in and what he’s able to do on the pitch. He’s very talented.

“He’s very young but by the way he plays and behaves on and outside the pitch, he seems very calm and adult. He could manage all the fuss about his transfer and the fees.

“At the end of the day, the poor guy did not ask for nothing in term of the amount spent but it comes back on him.

“He’s doing very well. I wish he’ll keep doing that way. He has great abilities. I hope he’ll leave his mark on the Premier League.”

Martial was unable to find the net as Manchester United slumped to a 3-0 loss to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in their most recent Premier League outing at the weekend.

He will be expecting to feature when the Red Devils take on Everton at Goodison Park when the Premier League returns after the international break on 17 October.
