Anthony Martial sends message to Man United fans

Anthony Martial claims that Manchester United's home support helps to drive him and his team-mates to victory

Anthony Martial has claimed that Manchester United’s support at Old Trafford plays a big part in helping to motivate him and his team-mates.

The 19-year-old striker announced himself to the Red Devils faithful with a stunning goal on his Old Trafford debut to help United secure a 3-1 win over Liverpool back in September.

Martial has been one of United’s standout performers since arriving at club from Monaco during the summer transfer window.

And the teenager has revealed how he feels that playing in front of United’s home fans can give Louis van Gaal’s side an edge over their opposition.

Martial is quoted as saying by Goal: “The atmosphere at Old Trafford is really unique and when you’re a bit tired, they really help you, they shout out your name and that gives you extra energy. It is also because of them that I’ve adapted easily to Manchester.”

The striker also singled out his brilliant goal against Liverpool as the best strike he has ever netted.

He added: “I think the greatest goal I’ve ever scored is the one against Liverpool. It was amazing for me and it really made my name in the Manchester team.”

Martial will not feature when United travel to Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as the forward picked up an ankle problem while on international duty with France.
