Antonio Valencia gives the thumbs up after undergoing surgery to correct a foot injury on Tuesday afternoon
Antonio Valencia has taken to social media to reveal that he has had successful surgery on his right foot and is now focused on returning to action for Manchester United as soon as possible.
The Ecuador international suffered the problem during the first half of United’s goalless draw with Manchester City in the Premier League last month but still continued until the second half.
However, the 30-year-old winger required surgery to remedy the injury and used his personal Twitter account to confirm that the operation had been a success on Tuesday evening.
Valencia posted the picture above of himself giving a thumbs up in a hospital bed following the procedure and vowed to be back in action as soon as possible.
News of Valencia’s lay-off will come as a blow to Manchester United ahead of the hectic festive schedule.

Valencia has made six Premier League appearances for United so far this season and played 81 minutes of the game against City.
Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal recently admitted that he may look to sign a new winger in the January transfer window.
United’s next game is a trip to Watford in the Premier League after the international break on Saturday 21 November.
