Arsenal

Petr Cech A quiet evening for the Arsenal number one until the 71st minute when a deflected attempt required a world-class save. 8/10

Per Mertesacker The Arsenal centre-half had a comfortable evening. Welcome respite for the towering defender after a 2-1 defeat at West Brom. 7

Laurent Koscielny Like Mertesacker, the Arsenal centre-half wasn’t really tested except for some late Zagreb pressure. 7

Hector Bellerín The Spanish full-back got forward well. Booked in the second half. He showcased his much-lauded speed with an eye-catching burst but couldn’t find a cross. 7

Nacho Monreal Brilliant run and pass for Sanchez’s goal. The Spanish left-back was solid defensively, too. 7

Santi Cazorla The pint-sized midfielder was back to his passing best in the heart of the Arsenal team.8

Mathieu Flamini The defensive midfielder kept things simple. He was barking instructions to his Arsenal team-mates throughout, ensuring complacency didn’t set in. 7

Joel Campbell A couple of half chances for the Costa Rican but couldn’t find the target. He picked out Sanchez with a fantastic incisive pass for Arsenal’s third. 7

Mesut Özil A rare header to break the deadlock on a crucial night for the Gunners. The Arsenal record signing could have added a second but perhaps would have been better served putting in a cross to a team-mate. 8

Olivier Giroud The France striker made a good decoy run for Ozil’s opener. However, the Arsenal striker couldn’t continue his recent goal-scoring run. 7

Alexis Sánchez (Man of the match) The Chile international ended a six-game run without a goal in the first half. A crisp finish. Sanchez did brilliantly to round the goalkeeper and lift his finish high into the net for their third. 8

Substitute

Aaron Ramsey A welcome return from injury for the Welshman. Ramsey looked sharp despite his lack of playing time. 6
