Arsenal star Joel Campbell runs rule over his favourite position
Arsenal striker Joel Campbell discusses his preferred starting position
Joel Campbell says he is happy to play wherever Arsene Wenger starts the Arsenal forward.
The Costa Rica international has been used on the right wing in recent weeks following injuries to England duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.
However, the 23-year-old struggled to have an impact on Sunday’s north London derby as his replacement Kieran Gibbs cancelled out Harry Kane’s opener.
Although Campbell has played in a centre-forward role for Costa Rica and during loan spells away from the Gunners, Campbell is happy to be a team player.
“Well, I’m happy playing in any position. I can play centrally, but I feel comfortable on the right too and I just try to do the best job I can,” Campbell told Arsenal’s website.
Campbell particularly impressed in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Swansea City at Liberty Stadium last month after he scored the north London side’s third in Wales.
The 23-year-old has scored one goal in two Premier League starts for the north London side.
Campbell has also made three appearances in the Champions League this season.
The Costa Rican has spent the past three seasons on loan before he returned to the Gunners this summer.
