Arsenal star Joel Campbell very happy with Premier League debut
Arsenal striker Joel Campbell reflects on his debut performance for the Gunners
Joel Campbell says he was very happy to make his full Premier League debut in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Swansea City on Saturday evening.
The Costa Rica international scored Arsenal’s third goal after Frenchman Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud had put the north London side in control at Liberty Stadium.
We had a good game so we have to keep going and prepare for the next game against Bayern Munich
Campbell had also started the Gunners’s humiliating 3-0 defeat by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup fourth round mid-week but still retained his place for the victory over the Swans.
The South American is already switching his focus to Wednesday night’s Champions League clash against Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena.
“I’m very happy,” Campbell told Arsenal’s website. “I had to wait for this moment and now we have to keep working to strengthen our team.
“I’m very happy but the important thing is the team wins. We had a good game so we have to keep going and prepare for the next game against Bayern Munich.
“The fans were incredible. They supported us the whole game and it was very important for us.”
The 23-year-old shot to international prominence after a series of impressive displays to help Costa Rica reach the knockout stage of the World Cup last year.
Campebell scored Olympiacos’s second goal in a memorable 2-0 victory over David Moyes’s struggling Manchester United side in the Champions League in 2014.
However, the Costa Rican has failed to recreate that form for the north London side, although he has only made three appearances in all competitions this season.
