Arsenal star Petr Cech runs rule over Chelsea’s season so far
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech discusses Chelsea's poor start to the Premier League season
Petr Cech says Chelsea’s fall from grace in the Premier League this season is unbelievable.
The defending Premier League champions are in 16th place in the table and 14 points behind leaders Manchester City after a 1-0 loss to Stoke City last weekend.
Cech moved to Arsenal in an £11m deal from the west London side in the summer transfer window after falling behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
And the 33-year-old Czech Republic international can’t quite believe how far Jose Mourinho’s men have fallen off the pace this season, particularly after Chelsea strengthened their squad in the summer.
“It makes me surprised,” Cech is quoted as saying by London Evening Standard.
“It’s a team that six months ago won the league.
“Players stayed there, the coach added more to his liking. It is very hard to believe that the club is in such a state.
“I was surprised to see their suffering at the beginning of the league, but I was even more taken aback by the fact that the crisis still continues.”
Cech has established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper following his summer switch across London.
The Czech shot stopper won four Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Europa League during an 11-year stay at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal are level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table.
