Theo Walcott has rubbished suggestions that he has suffered from a fresh injury setback as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.

The England international has been out of action since suffering the muscular injury early on during Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup.

Walcott had initially been set a return date of late November or early December as he bids to regain his fitness ahead of the hectic festive fixture schedule.

There had been claims that Walcott could be set for a spell on the sidelines for longer than first anticipated.

However, London Evening Standard correspondent James Olley has confirmed that Walcott is on track for a return in the coming weeks and will be back available in early December at the latest.

Olley tweeted:

Arsenal return to Premier League action with a trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon. The Gunners are currently second in the table and level on points with leaders Manchester City.
