Arsenal transfers: Arsene Wenger discusses his January plans
Arsene Wenger gives a typically coy response when asked about Arsenal's transfer plans for January
Arsene Wenger has once again insisted that he is prepared to bolster his Arsenal squad in the January transfer window with quality players.
The Gunners have inevitably been linked with a host of different players in recent days as the mid-season window looms large.
Brazil striker Alexandre Pato is one of the players to have been reported to be closing in on a transfer to Emirates Stadium in recent days.
Wenger was asked about his plans for the forthcoming transfer window at a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Thursday morning, and the Frenchman insisted that he is ready to splash the cash if the right “quality” players are available.
Asked about transfers with Black Friday approaching, Wenger said: “I love a bargain, who doesn’t love a bargain?”
“Why should anyone buy two tellys if you need only one?
“I bought Vieira for £2.5m and it was bargain. I spent £40m on Ozil and it was a bargain because he is a top player.
“If I find the right quality I will do something [in January].”
Arsenal return to Premier League action with a trip to Norwich City on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners are looking to return to winning ways after their 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
