Arsenal transfers: Gunners legend wants quality signings in January

David Seaman wants to see Arsenal sign at least two top players in the January transfer window

David Seaman believes that Arsenal need to sign at least two quality players during the January transfer window if they are to sustain a Premier League title challenge.

The north London side slipped to a 2-1 defeat by West Bromwich Albion in the top flight on Saturday afternoon as they squandered the chance to move top of the Premier League table.

Arsene Wenger was criticised by many for failing to sign any outfield players during the summer transfer window, instead opting only to bring in goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea.

And former Gunner Seaman feels that Cech’s solid start to life at Arsenal underlines the importance of only bringing in “quality” players.

Seaman is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “Cech is a winner. He’s won more than trophies than I have – when he was at Chelsea. He’s achieved everything in the game.

“Arsenal have not won a lot in the last few years. OK, two FA Cups. But on the whole they’ve been close or thereabouts.

“So by showing they can get that quality player in is great for the rest of the squad.

“We need a couple more with his quality in the January transfer window.”

Arsenal return to action in the Champions League on Tuesday night with a home clash against Dinamo Zagreb at Emirates Stadium as they look to keep alive their hopes of reaching the last 16.
