Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Mesut Ozil has become a leader in recent weeks for the Gunners
Arsene Wenger says Mesut Ozil has become a leader for Arsenal in recent weeks.
The Germany international teed up Kieran Gibbs for Arsenal’s equaliser in the second half of Sunday evening’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium.
Ozil’s assist was his sixth in six successive top-flight games which set a new Premier League record, whilst the World Cup winner has created 10 goals in the league.
Arsenal manager Wenger, whose side are level on points with leaders Manchester City at the top of the table, ran the rule over Ozil’s recent performances for the Gunners.
“He was outstanding again,” Ozil told Arsenal’s website.
“He has grown into a very great player as he has added commitment, leadership qualities and responsibility and I’m very pleased with his development.”
Ozil has scored one goal and has made 10 assists in 11 Premier League games for the north London side this season.
The World Cup winner moved to Arsenal in a club-record £42.5m deal from La Liga side Real Madrid in 2013.
The Gunners are level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City ahead of their trip to West Brom on 21 November.
