Arsene Wenger reveals Arsenal injury boost ahead of Tottenham clash
Arsene Wenger reveals that Mikel Arteta, David Ospina, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are edging closer to Arsenal comebacks
Arsene Wenger has revealed that both Mikel Arteta and David Ospina are due back in training on Friday as Arsenal prepare for their north London derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium.
Arteta has been missing with an ankle injury since the 5-2 win over Leicester City in the Premier League in September and was injured again after featuring for nine minutes during the 3-0 win over Watford last month.
Goalkeeper Ospina, meanwhile, returned from international duty with a shoulder problem back in October.
However, Wenger has now revealed that the pair are set to return to training this week ahead of Arsenal’s crunch clash with Spurs in north London.
The Arsenal boss also hinted that midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (both hamstring) could be set to return shortly after the forthcoming international break.
“They [Arteta and Ospina] are all very close. I think Arteta will be back in full training on Friday, Ospina as well,” Wenger told a news conference in Munich on Tuesday evening.
“After the break, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ramsey [could be] back as well.”
Arsenal head into Sunday’s game level on points with leaders Manchester City.
