Bastian Schweinsteiger takes to Instagram to express disappointment with stalemate
Bastian Schweinsteiger sent a message to Manchester United’s supporters after Saturday night’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
Jamie Vardy set a new Premier League record after he scored in his 11th successive top-flight game to give Leicester a first-half lead at King Power Stadium.
However, Schweinsteiger scored his first United goal to level for the visitors on the stroke of half-time, powering a header past Kasper Schmeichel.
The 31-year-old World Cup winner admitted that Leicester provided United with a stern test as predicted in his post-match Instagram message.
Schweinsteiger posted the above photo and wrote on his Instagram page: “A tough challenge today, as expected. Too bad we weren’t able to reward ourselves with a second goal. #mufc”
The Germany came close to scoring his first United goal last weekend but the midfielder’s late effort was chalked down as a Troy Deeney own goal in their 2-1 victory over Watford.
Schweinsteiger moved the 13-time Premier League winners in a £6.7m deal from United in the summer transfer window.
