Belgium manager delivers latest Tottenham injury update on Dembele
Belgium manager Marc Wilmots delivers latest injury update on Tottenham star Mousa Dembele
Marc Wilmots has delivered an injury update on Mpusa Dembele after the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder failed to complete Wednesday’s training session.
The Spurs playmaker was one of the most-impressive performers in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in Sunday’s north London derby.
The Belgium international didn’t complete the warm-up on Wednesday as the Red Devils trained ahead of their clash against Italy on Friday night.
And Wilmots, whose side have qualified for the European championship next summer, revealed why he called up Steven Defour to his squad.
“We work with him on an individual program to get him ready for the game against Spain,” Wilmots told reporters ahead of Belgium’s Italy clash.
“Because Dembele was insecure, I called an extra midfielder (Steven) Defour.”
Dembele finished with a pass success rate of 88 per cent against the Gunners in the north London derby, whilst he won seven tackles and completed five dribbles.
The Belgium international has scored two goals in nine Premier League games after his return from injury earlier this season.
Dembele has also netted one goal in two Europa League games for the north London side.
