Cesc Fabregas insists that he and his Chelsea team-mates are fully behind Jose Mourinho and is convinced that the Blues can turn their stuttering start to the season around.

The Blues have come in for plenty of criticism this season following their disastrous Premier League form in recent weeks.

Fabregas was a second-half substitute as Chelsea slumped to a 1-0 loss to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday to leave them languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table and just three points above the relegation zone.

Jose Mourinho has inevitably seen his future called into question in recent weeks following Chelsea’s poor start to their title defence.

However, Fabregas insists that the manager has the full backing of his players and is confident that the Blues can reverse their ailing fortunes in the coming weeks.

Fabregas told COPE: “If you play well you are the first to have the finger pointed at you when things are going badly.

“When things go well you are the best and when things go wrong you are finished, you are useless.

“Those of us who have been most criticised are Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and myself, but you get used to it.

“We’re not doing well in the league at the moment. Last year we lost four games all season and this season we have lost seven already. But Jose Mourinho is a winner; when he loses he goes home sad as I do.

“The results at Chelsea aren’t what we would want and don’t reflect the level of our play. I feel good in myself, but when the results aren’t coming everything is negative and everything looks bad.”

He added: “Mourinho trusts us and we trust him.”

Chelsea return to Premier League action with a home clash against Norwich after the international break on 21 November.
