Cesc Fabregas sends message to Chelsea fans over Jose Mourinho
Cesc Fabregas says that he is confident things will improve under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea this season
Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he is prepared to fight “tooth and nail” for Jose Mourinho, despite Chelsea’s poor start to the new season.
The Spaniard was a second-half substitute as the Blues slumped to their seventh Premier League defeat of the season against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
That loss left Chelsea languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table and just three points above the relegation zone after 12 games.
Chelsea’s stuttering form has inevitably prompted plenty of speculation about Mourinho’s future at the west London club.
However, former Arsenal captain Fabregas insists that the Portuguese coach has the full backing of himself and the entire Chelsea squad as they look to reverse their fortunes in the coming weeks.
Fabregas told Goal: “I am the first to defend our manager tooth and nail from the first minute when some began to doubt and I will continue to do so.
“The manager has helped me a lot in the year and a half I have been at Chelsea and I will always be grateful to him.
“The only thing I want is for the team to be strong, to keep winning and to get better, because right now we are not going through a great moment.”
He continued: “He has always made me feel extremely important in the group and last year we achieved great success.
“This year things aren’t going so well but this has just started and I am sure we will improve.
