Chelsea star fires warning at Tottenham ahead of derby
Gary Cahill says Chelsea are in confident mood heading into this weekend's clash at Tottenham
Gary Cahill has warned Tottenham Hotspur that Chelsea are out to continue their winning run ahead of their clash at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues secured a comfortable 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Champions League on Tuesday night as they followed up their Premier League victory over Norwich with another three points.
Chelsea are yet to find consistent form in the Premier League this season, having stuttered to seven defeats in their opening 13 top-flight games.
However, Blues defender Cahill says that the west London side will head to White Hart Lane full of confidence and desperate to seal three points.
Cahill told Chelsea TV: “It was [important to beat Maccabi] for a number of reasons. First and foremost, the most important one was for the Champions League and to make sure we put ourselves in a position to try to qualify top.
“But as well as to build to momentum off the back of the Norwich result and keep building these wins and try to gather these wins to turn this around.
“It was important for a lot of reasons and very pleasing. We’ve got this week to prepare for the Tottenham game.
“They’re playing very well at the minute. I’ve no doubt it’ll be an entertaining game and one where we’re hoping to be on the end of the right result.”
Cahill found the net against Maccabi Tel-Aviv to add to goals from Willian, Oscar and Kurt Zouma in Israel.
Chelsea are currently 15th place in the Premier League table heading into Sunday’s game, 10 points behind Spurs, who are in fifth place in the table.
