Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas lifts lid on Real Madrid talks

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas reveals he has held talks with Real Madrid in the past

Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he held talks with Real Madrid at various stages during his career.

The Spain international finally got his hands on the Premier League trophy last season after the 28-year-old playmaker played a key part in the west London side’s title-winning campaign.

However, Fabregas started his professional career at Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal before he sealed a return to his boyhood club Barcelona in 2011.

Whilst the Spanish playmaker was always tipped to return to Camp Nou after he moved to Arsenal from Barcelona as a teenager, Fabregas has lifted the lid on discussions with the Catalan side’s bitter rivals Real Madrid.

“Well, there was contact with different presidents over the space of several years, but no deal was ever struck. We discussed terms, but nothing final was ever agreed. That decisive step was never taken,” Fabregas told Marca.

Fabregas joined Chelsea in a £27m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in 2014.

The Spain international has been unable to help Chelsea prevent their slide down the Premier League table this season.

The defending champions face Norwich City in their next Premier League game at Stamford Bridge next Saturday.
