Chelsea transfers: Jose Mourinho reveals January plans
Jose Mourinho plays down the chances of Chelsea bringing in any new players in the January transfer window
Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is not looking to bolster his Chelsea squad during the January transfer window, despite the Blues’ poor start to the season.
The west London side head into Saturday’s clash with Norwich City at Stamford Bridge in 16th place in the Premier League table and just three points above the relegation zone after a stuttering start to the campaign.
Mourinho’s side slumped to a 1-0 loss to Stoke City before the international break as they fell to their seventh top-flight defeat of the season.
Chelsea have inevitably been linked with a host of players as the January transfer window looms large – but Mourinho insists that his focus is on extracting the best out of his current crop of players without looking to bolster his squad.
Asked about his plans for the January window, Mourinho told a news conference at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Friday afternoon: “I will not ask the board for any changes in January.
“I’m happy with my players, I trust my players, I don’t need to clean the dressing room or ask the club to spend money.
“We put ourselves in a great situation together by being champions, now we have to be together again to put this situation back in the right place.”
