Chelsea transfers: Didier Drogba comments on talk of return

Didier Drogba moves to play down suggestions he could make a loan move back to Chelsea in January

Didier Drogba has played down suggestions that he could make a surprise return to Chelsea this season.

The Blues legend has been linked with a possible return to Stamford Bridge on loan during the MLS off-season following his arrival at Montreal Impact.

Reports this week claimed that Chelsea’s players were keen on seeing Drogba return to the club to help Jose Mourinho’s men attempt to turn around their disastrous start to the season.

However, although he admits he would be open to a return to Chelsea to train with his former team-mates, he feels that he is unlikely to play for the west London club again.

Drogba is quoted as saying by the National: “[A return to Chelsea] to train? Why not?

“But it’s something I would need to discuss with the club [Montreal], because I belong to them.

“Playing? I’m not too hot on that idea.”

Chelsea have endured a stuttering start to the season and slumped to their seventh defeat of the season at Stoke City last weekend.

That result left the Blues languishing in 16th place in the table and just three points above the relegation zone.
