Chelsea transfers: Tottenham boss Pochettino reacts to Kane speculation
Mauricio Pochettino insists that he is not concerned about Chelsea's interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane
Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is “happy” that Chelsea are being linked with a big-money January swoop to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spurs striker has been in top form in recent weeks and has scored nine goals in his last six games for the north London side.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements as the January transfer window looms large, following the Blues’ stuttering start to the season.
However, Pochettino has insisted that he is not concerned about Chelsea’s reported interest in Kane and says that the England international – along with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris – is keen to stay at White Hart Lane.
Speaking after Spurs’ Europa League win over Qarabag on Thursday night, Pochettino told his post-match news conference: “I am happy that a big club wants our player – this is because they show they are a top player with top performances. It is good when they are linked.
“But Harry, like Hugo, wants to stay here. He is one of the best players and he is very happy.
“He wants to grow up with us and try the next few years to try for the top four and win titles with Tottenham. This is his challenge.”
Kane is set to come up against the Blues when Tottenham host Chelsea in the Premier League at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
