Chelsea transfers: Serbia star confirms interest after Nemanja Matic chat
Red Star Belgrade teenager Marko Grujic claims Nemanja Matic told him that Chelsea want the teenager
Marko Grujic says Chelsea want to sign the Serbia starlet after Nemanja Matic confirmed the Blues’s interest.
The 19-year-old Red Star Belgrade forward is one of Europe’s most-coveted youngsters after an impressive run of form for the Serbian side.
Grukic put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with Red Star in the summer following interest from Bundesliga outfit Hamburg SV.
However, according to the Serbian teenager, Matic has revealed to the Red Star man that the defending Premier League champions are interested in his signature.
“After Tuesday’s match against Slovenia, I’ll talk to Stankovic. He called me three weeks ago,” Grujic is quoted as saying by 101greatgoals.com.
“He told me to continue this way since Inter is following me. At the end of the season I’ll go to Milano to talk to Inter. It’s a possible destination.
“Now I’m at Red Star, we’re first in the league and I want to win the title. Then I could come to Italy. I don’t think I’ll move in January, there are certainly more possibilities in June.”
Nemanja Matic is a friend, he’s Serbia and he’s been at Chelsea for more than a year. He told me they want me.
The Red Star forward has scored four goals in 16 league games so far this season.
Chelsea are in 16th place in the Premier League table and are already 14 points behind current leaders Manchester City after 12 games.
Grujic signed a three-year deal with Red Star in the summer after the Belgrade outfit rejected a £1.2m deal from Hamburg.
